When I left my job 3 years ago to stay home full time with my daughter I felt overwhelming joy, but also sadness that I was leaving a career I loved. But my calling to be a mom felt much greater. As I started to learn my new profession as "mom," I, like any good employee, started to research areas from childhood development, milestones, nutrition, and sleep. I became overwhelmed by all the things I didn’t know.

This feeling was amplified by my daughter's feeding struggles early on. She was up every hour to feed for months & only took small amounts creating this unmanageable schedule. I'll never forget the first thing the nurse told me after delivery: that my breasts were insufficient to breastfeed. Crushing my breastfeeding dreams, it seemed hopeless after days of trying & immense pain. It's incredibly hard when a healthcare professional casts doubt on your ability to do something in your most vulnerable state. I worried about my daughter, despite the fact that she was gaining weight and her doctor assured me this was all "normal" baby behavior. Several months later, despite her pediatrician assuring me her mouth "looked fine," I decided to take her to an Ear, Nose, and Throat specialist. After countless hours of research I suspected a tongue and lip tie might be contributing to her ongoing feeding and sleep difficulties. The doctor confirmed my concerns. She got surgery right before her 2nd birthday. It was during the months leading up to her surgery that I truly began to trust my instincts as a mother, questioning everything, especially when it came to health. As a new mom you lean on people in the medical community to guide you and I felt like they failed us. I believe God guided me on this path to say, "Wake up" and be your own advocate, never be afraid to stand up and go against the grain. Time went on and I continued to navigate the emotional toll of postpartum anxiety, especially when dealing with such intense caregiving needs and self-doubt. I was caught between trying to meet her needs, failing myself with my own health, and trying to balance everything. I struggled to reach out for help because until that point every healthcare provider I had worked with always offered some type of pharmaceutical as the "solution" to a problem and I continued to lose faith in the conventional medical system. I have always believed intuitively that God & our bodies are designed to heal ourselves if we nourish and care for them well.

My calling to be a mom felt much

Welcome to my unexpected journey!

I used to believe I was eating "healthy," but that changed once I started reading ingredient labels. I was stunned by the number of processed ingredients in even the simplest foods. How was I supposed to heal my body and nourish it well when so many products were marketed to deceive you. Despite their "organic" status or other labels we are taught to identify as "healthy options." How was I supposed to heal myself when there's so much contradicting information about what is good for the body vs. what isn't. The lack of confidence consumers have about how to care for themselves well, is why people are so confused and struggle to seek health in their own lives. Through great investment of time and research I really made it my mission to seek the truth about what the body needs, and the most bioavailable sources of such nutrition. My background is in finance, which has nothing to do with chemistry or food science, but I truly believe that passion drives excellence in whatever we pursue. After I started learning about nutrition and the toxins in our food, I began focusing on the chemical toxins in our home.

The first place I started was with my nutrition.
